At Turning Point, we are passionate about supporting people with Learning Disabilities across England. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the daily lives of our residents while also growing your own career through training and support.
About Me
I’m a woman in my 30s with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), a form of autism, and a mild/moderate learning disability. I need a supportive team that understands my unique needs and can help me thrive in my new home in Nuneaton and the local community.
It’s essential that my support team is patient, understanding, and skilled in using positive language. I enjoy various community activities but currently rely on my Mum for support. I’m looking for a team that can help me feel safe and confident in the community.
We utilize a digital social care record system to streamline daily tasks, allowing you to focus more on the people we support.
Shift Patterns
This is a 24-hour service, so flexibility is key! You will work a variety of shifts, including:
* Early mornings
* Late evenings
* Sleep-ins or waking nights
* Some weekends
Please note: If you're traveling from Coventry, you may need to catch two buses, and on Sundays, buses start at 9:00 AM while shifts can begin as early as 7:00 AM.
Your Role and Responsibilities
What will you be doing?
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same! Your responsibilities will include:
* Promoting the independence of the people we support
* Assisting with daily activities like cleaning, cooking, and outings
* Organizing activities both at home and in the community
* Helping residents develop life skills and personal interests
* Ensuring safety and health for all residents
* Providing personal care as needed
* Manual handling support
* Assisting with medication management
* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service monitoring
Additional Needs:
* Patience and understanding are crucial.
* Effective communication is key, especially with individuals with PDA.
* You will collaborate with specialists in a multi-disciplinary team.
