Overview
Our Nursery Practitioner supports the educational and social development of children up to age five. Key duties include ensuring a safe learning environment, helping children develop social and behavioural skills, and engaging them in age-appropriate play.
Responsibilities
* Provide day‑to‑day care, including feeding, changing diapers, and helping with toilet training.
* Ensure a safe, clean, and stimulating environment.
* Develop and lead fun, age‑appropriate activities that promote learning and development, focusing on social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills.
* Observe children’s development and identify any areas of concern.
* Help children develop motor skills, language, and social interactions through play and structured learning.
* Ensure that children are safe and emotionally supported, creating an atmosphere that encourages exploration and independent learning.
* Keep records of each child’s progress, including documenting milestones, behaviours, and developmental needs as part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework in the UK.
* Maintain regular communication with parents or guardians about their child’s progress, needs, and any concerns that arise.
Qualifications
* Minimum Level 2 Early Years Qualification.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures.
Safeguarding Information
* Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service. If you don’t yet have one, you will need to cover the cost.
* Be eligible to work in regulated roles – not on the Children’s Barred List.
* Successfully complete background and reference checks.

Tops Bournemouth Nursery is a 131‑place day nursery and preschool based at Royal Bournemouth Hospital, providing Early Education and Care for children aged 3 months to preschool.
