A leading manufacturer of industrial off-highway diesel engines is currently looking for a Validation Engineer to join their team at their Stafford site. The position offers up to £45.17 per hour based on a 37-hour week. Working hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday, with a 1:00 pm finish on Friday. Hours are flexible after discussion with the manager.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engineering activities as part of diesel product development, both individually and as a project team leader. The role involves validation of new diesel engine technologies and systems, data analysis, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and validation of those actions. Additional responsibilities include:
* Verification and validation of diesel engine components and systems
* Defining and managing engine and component validation plans
* Coordinating daily engineering activities and managing test operations
* Analyzing data and presenting results
* Writing technical reports
* Leading engineering project teams
* Conducting root cause analysis and defect resolution using industry-standard methods (e.g., 8D)
* Presenting results and preparing technical documentation
* Supporting the design team through participation in FMEA processes
* Assisting in process improvement activities and projects
* Ensuring all work complies with operating procedures and quality standards
* Collaborating with teams based in Stafford and Aurangabad facilities
* Occasional overseas travel may be required based on business needs
Qualifications and Skills
* An engineering degree or equivalent qualification/experience
* Experience in planning and executing internal combustion engine validation
* Leadership experience in engineering project teams
* Proficiency with industry-standard issue resolution methodologies (e.g., 8D)
* Data analysis skills, including experience with tools like CANape, MATLAB, etc.
* Excellent presentation skills
* Strong technical report writing abilities
* Outstanding organization, communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
* Proficiency in PC literacy and all MS Office components
Desirable Skills
* Experience in engine-based noise and vibration testing
* Experience with new product introduction cycles for internal combustion engines or similar industries
* Experience in continuous product improvement projects for internal combustion engines or similar industries
