Responsibilities
Renfrewshire Council is seeking to recruit an experienced Neighbourhood Services Manager. Reporting to the Operations Manager within Environment, Housing, and Infrastructure, you will contribute to service development and delivery, leading the ongoing management of Street Cleaning, Country Park Management, Cemeteries, and Grounds Maintenance, including:
Statutory compliance and strategy development and implementation
Providing strategic management and direction for high-quality, cost-effective operational delivery of Neighbourhood Services
Utilizing research and innovation to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
Playing a key role in the Council's Sustainability and Net Zero ambitions
Developing relationships with external partners regarding litter and fly-tipping issues
Driving improvement aligned with the Community Plan, Shared Commitments, and other strategic frameworks
Managing Cemetery Operations, including burials and memorial safety
Managing Council land assets such as cemeteries, parks, and public spaces
Providing leadership for community-based and neighbourhood service activities
Supporting the Operations Manager in managing service delivery
Role
You will oversee complex functions and budgets across various topics, including:
Development and delivery of strategies for Street Cleaning, Country Park Management, and Grounds Maintenance
Workforce development to support service priorities
Fostering a collaborative and supportive organizational culture
Ensuring statutory compliance
Managing operational depots and assets
Managing service operations
Qualifications and experience required include a degree and/or relevant professional qualification, significant senior environmental management experience, and skills in policy shaping, strategic and operational management, and leadership. A driving license is essential.
