The role
Portage, Quality and Inclusion Practitioner
An exciting opportunity has become available to work within Best Start in Life Portage Quality and Inclusion Practitioners team within the Family Hubs. The position is for 2 FTE (37 hours) per week working Monday to Friday. One will be based in the North locality and one in the South locality.
About you
1. Support Early Years Settings (nurseries, preschools)
Help staff deliver high-quality inclusive practiceAdvise on adapting activities for children with additional needsModel strategies and interventions (e.g. communication tools, visual supports)2. Work Directly with Children & Families
Carry out holistic assessments of children and family needsMonitor children’s progress and plan next stepsLiaise closely with parents, carers, and professionals3. Deliver Portage Home Visits
Provide structured home-based learning sessions for children with SENDSupport development through play-based activitiesHelp families build confidence in supporting their child4. Early Identification & Intervention
Spot children not meeting developmental milestonesPut in place support strategies earlyUse the graduated approach (assess–plan–do–review)5. Multi-Agency Working
Work with professionals such as:Health visitorsSEND teamsSpeech & language therapistsEnsure families get joined-up support6. Support Family Hubs & Parenting Programmes
Help deliver inclusive parenting programmesGuide families to the Local Offer and support services7. Safeguarding & Compliance
