Overview
We are currently seeking a reliable and dedicated individual who has experience of animal management within education for the Grimsby Institute in the role of a Casual Assistant Animal Technician. This is a fast-paced and diverse role, in which you will work closely with Program Leaders, the Area Manager and work alongside other Animal Care Technicians providing the best suited care for our variety of animals. A fundamental part of the role as an animal care technician is to support the overarching curriculum of the animal care department. This role will include setting up areas for practical lessons, supporting staff and students within the practical area and maintaining high standards of welfare for all animals on site.
Responsibilities
* Providing animal husbandry (including cleaning, feeding, watering, providing enrichment and enclosure maintenance).
* Ensuring practical areas are fully resourced and ready for use in practical teaching and learning lessons.
* Assisting and providing tours and demonstrations to designated groups and visitors.
* Supervision of students from level 1 to 6 within Animal Care working on the practical unit.
* Maintaining animal health records.
* Stock taking and supporting with the maintenance of stock records and accurate record keeping.
* Assisting with the running of the two on site business.

Requirements / Qualifications
* Level 2/GCSE English and Maths (or willingness to work towards).
* Level 2 or higher qualification (or willingness to work towards) in related area.
* Experience of working in an animal establishment.
