About The Role
Balfour Beatty Power T&D has a significant opportunity for an experienced Operations Director to lead our National Grid portfolio, one of our most strategically important client relationships. This senior leadership role can be based in Derby or from any of our Power Hub locations and plays a central part in shaping the future growth of the business.
As Operations Director, you will translate strategy into deliver, leading complex programmes across Overhead Lines, Cabling and Substations. You’ll drive performance across safety, commercial outcomes and customer satisfaction, while ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, sustainably and profitably.
Reporting to the Senior Operations Director, you’ll work closely with the wider leadership team to maximise opportunities within the National Grid portfolio, build long‑term client partnerships and develop a high‑performing, inclusive organisation with a strong pipeline of future talent.
What you'll be doing
* Lead the delivery of the National Grid portfolio, driving performance across safety, quality, programme and commercial outcomes
* Shape and execute operational strategy to support growth and maximise opportunities across OHL, Cabling and Substations
* Own financial performance across multiple projects, ensuring robust risk management and delivery of profitable margins
* Build trusted, collaborative relationships with National Grid to consistently meet and exceed customer expectations
* Champion a strong safety culture, setting clear standards and inspiring teams to achieve safety excellence
* Drive sustainability performance, embedding efficient use of resources and supporting community engagement initiatives
* Provide operational leadership to work winning activities, ensuring bids are safe, deliverable and commercially robust
* Partner closely with commercial and delivery teams to manage contractual obligations and informed decision‑making
* Lead, develop and motivate senior operational teams, building capability, engagement and succession
* Role model the Balfour Beatty Values and create an inclusive, high‑performing culture.
