An opportunity is available for a Network Technician based at our Alfreton depot. You will be accountable to the Team Manager for the construction, maintenance and repair of the underground and overhead network up to 33kV. In addition, you will be responsible for the programming and monitoring of immediate work colleagues, switching up to 33kV, issuing appropriate safety documentation and handling other tasks appropriate to the Technician's role. You are required to hold qualifications in English and Maths at grade A.
Qualifications
* C/4-9 GCSE or Functional Skills equivalent; and a City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering—evidence of your qualifications is required prior to appointment.
Responsibilities
* Network operations including the issuance of Limitations of Access and Permit to Work safety documents up to 33kV.
* Construction of distribution substations, construction and alteration of overhead lines and associated plant.
* Installation of plant.
* Laying and jointing of cables up to 11kV.
* Repair and replacement of faulty and obsolete plant, cables and overhead lines.
* Recording asset routes, details and positions.
* Recording plant details.
* Connecting generators.
Ideal Candidate
You must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team and be capable of making on-spot decisions as required. You will need good communication skills, a flexible attitude and the ability to cope in pressured situations- often working to tight deadlines. If you are not already trained as an SAP you will be required to undertake this. A full UK/EU driving licence is required as you may be required to undertake standby duties as part of the formal rota operating in the sites.

Location
Operationally we require the successful candidate to live within the geographical area covered by the Grantham depot, which includes Spalding, Boston, Stamford, Grantham and Melton. If a Level 3 Electrical Power Engineering qualification has not yet been attained, the successful candidate will be required to undertake it.
