Job Description
Maldon
Veterinary Surgeon
Maldon Vets for Pets are looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our team!
About us
Located within the pretty Heybridge basin, but within easy access to London, there are a multitude of outdoor and leisure activities on our doorstep. We have been serving the local community as the locally known Vets for 10 years!
Maldon enjoys excellent transport links, making it easy to commute or explore. The nearby towns of Chelmsford (20 minutes) and Witham (15 minutes) offer direct rail services into London Liverpool Street in under 45 minutes-ideal for those who want access to the capital without living in it. The A12 is close by, providing straightforward road access to London, Colchester, and the wider East of England. Stansted Airport is under an hour's drive, offering convenience for both domestic and international travel
Our fantastic team comprises 1 Practice Manager, 4 knowledgeable and friendly Nurses, 1 Student Nurse, 2 VCAs, 4 receptionists and 3 Veterinary Surgeons (Including 1 New Graduate Vet).
We work closely and in collaboration with a visiting certificate holder in small animal surgery (including orthopaedics) and can deal with a wide case load in practice. Clinical freedom within your case load is strongly supported, and we work together as a close-knit team. Regular clinical meetings and in-house CPD take place to ensure we are all working together to a high standard.
We also meet regularly outside of work socially on the buzzing Maldon high street.
We see the full spectrum of first opinion (predominantly dog and cat case load, alongside some small furries and exotics) cases so vets can expect a surgical caseload to include but not confined to:
* Neutering
* Mass removals
* Dentistry
* Basic ophthalmic surgery
* Emergency surgery - such as pyometra, c section, foreign bodies, cystotomies
* Surgical and non-surgical wound management
We have in-house laboratory capabilities, and diagnostics, including ultrasound, digital x-ray and multiparameter monitoring.
We actively encourage all staff to develop their own areas of interest including support and funding to study further if so desired!
What we are looking for
* A qualified Veterinary Surgeon with RCVS registration
* Ideally you will have at least 3-4 years' experience working in small animal practice in the UK
* You will be confident in small animal routine surgeries and consults
* You might have some experience having already worked in a Lead Veterinary role and keen to continue this level of work
* Candidates that are seeking a Clinical Lead or Senior position are strongly encouraged to apply
* Clinical freedom to execute best practice Veterinary care
* We would ideally appoint an applicant that can work 3-4 days per week (9am- 7pm)
* Weekend work would be 1:4 weekends on a rota basis
* Unparalleled support from our sister branch, Braintree Vets for Pets
* No OOHs and minimal bank holidays
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* An attractive salary of up to £70,000 (Dependant on experience/full time equivalent)
* A generous CPD allowance (Plus funding towards certificates)
* 5.6 weeks initial holiday, rising to 6.6 weeks after 2 years' service!
* A generous extra days' leave for your birthday

* A contributory pension scheme
* In-house career development opportunity
