Job Description
The post holder will work within a team of nursing and medical staff, acting as an allocated nurse for a group of patients. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating their care needs. The post holder will coordinate their workload, report to, and liaise with senior staff.
They will work within the multi-disciplinary team to provide high-quality care in partnership with children and their families, adhering to the RCPCH Standards for children and young people in emergency care and short stay areas.
Key Responsibilities
1. Work closely with the nursing team to formulate individual care programmes based on patient needs and current research/guidelines.
2. Ensure planned nursing care is delivered safely and effectively, considering the views of the child and their parents/guardians.
3. Update care plans as appropriate.
4. Arrange safe, efficient admission, transfer, and discharge processes in line with Trust policies.
5. Advise on health promotion and illness prevention.
6. Recognize situations detrimental to the health and well-being of individuals and take appropriate action.
7. Conduct comprehensive assessments of a child's nursing requirements.
8. Undertake essential nursing assessments, considering all activities of daily living.
