Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Med/Surg Ortho unit, requiring at least one year of RN experience and recent orthopedic experience.
Responsibilities Work in a Med/Surg Ortho unit with 36 beds on the 4th floor
Patient population consists of adults and geriatrics, with a high volume of spine cases
Nurse to patient ratio of 1:5-6, subject to change based on staffing
Night shifts with every other weekend and major holiday required
Candidates must be willing to float to other Med/Surg or Tele (Oncology) units as needed
Uses Alaris pumps and Hercules beds
Additional documentation may be required
Navy or white scrubs required
Fast-paced environment with frequent admissions and one-day discharges on night shift
Patient population includes adults and geriatrics, mainly spine cases
Pass/fail EKG testing will be conducted on the first day
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Team supports admissions and discharges during night shifts
Requirements Active VA or compact RN license required
Minimum of 1 year RN experience required
Recent orthopedic nursing experience required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Must pass a dysrhythmia (EKG) exam, with two attempts allowed and study guides available
Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Willingness to work night shifts, every other weekend, and major holidays
