Job Title: Bioskills Laboratory Coordinator
This role involves a variety of duties related to the coordination and management of cadaveric workshops within the Bioskills Laboratory. Responsibilities include technical and clerical tasks, providing support to Wrightington Consultants, Trust colleagues, and Industry Partners.
A key aspect of this role is working in an emotionally challenging environment, handling prosected human cadaveric specimens in accordance with legal regulations set by the Human Tissue Authority. The role involves managing and physically handling cadaveric tissue, including removal and cleaning of bodily fluids and tissue, and exposure to unpleasant odours and visually distressing scenes.
The position requires collaboration with surgeons and industry partners to set up cadaveric workshops, ensuring equipment is appropriate and functional, and cleaning and decontaminating the lab after sessions. It also involves interacting with surgeons to prepare for lab sessions, discussing cadaveric models, instrumentation, and assisting with pre-dissection activities.
Additional responsibilities include liaising with the Unit Head, other unit Consultants, unit Fellows, and the Upper Limb Unit Education Manager.
