Responsibilities
* Provide life‑changing treatment, support and care for adults with communication and swallowing difficulties.
* Deliver high quality, comprehensive services aligned with Humber NHS Foundation Trust, the Health and Care Professions Council and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, with the paramount concern of client well‑being.
* Demonstrate specialist clinical skills in practice and provide support and advice in partnership with patients, relatives, staff, managers and external agencies.
Working Conditions
Setting: Scarborough Prospect Road YO12 7LB (though other base options will be discussed).
Local authority catchment includes Scarborough, Filey, Ryedale, Pocklington and Whitby with links to community hospitals.
The role is based mostly on the Trust site with an expectation of attendance of 1 day per week. If remote working is needed, the role will either be based at a Trust site or, if stated, be a home‑based position.
A 6‑month probationary period applies where applicable. The successful candidate must hold a UK driving licence and be able to travel independently between sites.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experience as a Band 6 Adult Community Speech and Language Therapist.
* Ability to provide care by home visit, telephone, video and outpatient clinic.
* Knowledge of acquired communication and swallowing disorders – neurological degenerative conditions, stroke services, care homes and community hospitals.
* Familiarity with national guidance (HCP, RCSLT) and patient governance.
* Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DS‑BAS) check required.
* Competence in agile working and flexible attendance.
