About This Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic member of staff to work as a Personal Advisor within the Cared for and Care Experienced Team in Cumbria, based in either Carlisle or Workington.
Salary: £38,220 to £39,152 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Carlisle / Workington
Contract: Temporary (12 months)
Role Summary
The role involves supporting young people aged 16–18 and 18–25 who are care experienced, working alongside their allocated social worker. You will visit each young person at least every 8 weeks, review their pathway plans every 6 months, and provide advice and guidance on benefits, accommodation, education, employment, training, health, emotional wellbeing and parenting.
Travel may be required as many care‑experienced young people live out of area, and you will also support those seeking asylum.
Responsibilities
* Visit young people at least every 8 weeks and review pathway plans every 6 months.
* Advise and support young people on benefits, accommodation, education, employment, training, health, emotional wellbeing and parenting.
* Manage a caseload of young people within the team.
* Collaborate with allocated social workers and multidisciplinary team members.
* Travel to support young people who live out of area, including those seeking asylum.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant qualification: DipSW, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent.
* At least two years’ experience working with young people.
* Strong communication skills.
* Commitment to youth empowerment.
* Ability to manage a caseload and work independently.
Required Clearances
Enhanced DBS check with a Children’s Barred List check.
