Overview
Project Director - Industrial Advisory (Defence Sector Lead) at AECOM. Lead and grow the Advisory offering in the defence sector, reporting to the Head of Industrial Advisory, ensuring the technical and commercial success of projects delivered.
Responsibilities
* Lead the business growth of Industrial Advisory in the defence sector.
* Support strategic growth objectives of Advisory Services and Industrial Advisory.
* Develop and deliver a strategic growth plan for defence; support the development of value propositions for Industrial Advisory capabilities in defence environments, including manufacturing/Mechanical or digital inputs.
* Develop innovative thought leadership to differentiate AECOM.
* Establish best practice methods and standards for manufacturing process improvements across Advisory Services and the wider AECOM organisation.
* Develop a network within AECOM to promote Advisory into projects and with clients; build client relationships through project delivery and business development.
* Develop solutions to business/client challenges based on analysis of current practices and goals.
* Collaborate with Advisory Services teams to formulate strategy and develop offerings that maximise the potential of the wider AECOM team.
* Ensure projects under your management are delivered to quality, cost and time targets.
Qualifications
* Must already hold or be capable of applying for Security clearance (SC) — resident in the UK for at least 5 years, UK national and single passport holder.
* Experienced, approachable leader with strong leadership, coaching, training and influencing skills.
* Background in in-house manufacturing/engineering, design, project or process improvement teams; or as part of a machine/system integrator within Defence (Submarines, OEMs, Ships, Military vehicles, etc.).
* Automation/robotics knowledge and experience is advantageous.
* Mechanical handling experience including cranes; manufacturing equipment design, layout planning, or production process planning.
* Experience or willingness to develop consulting capacity and stakeholder relationships; strong initiative and ability to handle complex problems.
* Ability to listen to clients and articulate compelling reasons to engage our services.
* Flexible and willing to travel; hybrid working with regular travel to UK, Europe and beyond as required.
* Understanding of Continuous Improvement methods and Lean/Six Sigma concepts; experience leading improvement/change projects.
* Ideally qualified to HND level or above, or with at least ten years of relevant industry experience; membership of a professional body is advantageous.
