CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent – Part time (14 hours per week )
DEPARTMENT: BBC Nations and Regions
LOCATION: Worcester
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27,600 - £46,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This is a key on-air role that also acts as a great way to become part of the wider BBC Hereford and Worcester Local Story Team that provides stories across radio, online and TV in the region. As the weekend newsreader you will be responsible for preparing and reading bulletins and chasing breaking stories. You’ll also advise News Online and Midlands Today on any important developments on patch.
Even though this is a part-time role, there are opportunities for more work for those candidates who are interested.
Essential Criteria
* Experience of reading live bulletins with a good broadcasting voice.
* Editorial skills – to understand the priorities and pitfalls of story selection.
Desired But Not Required
* Social media experience – a working knowledge of social media platforms and how they can be best used to reach our audience.
* Video/audio - an understanding of production and editing.
* Creativity – the ability to generate great story ideas for use on local radio and in the digital space.
