Pig Stockperson – Dorset - £24,000 + Accommodation
The Job:
To assist in the day to day care, welfare and performance of pigs across all production stages within a modern family run farming business. The role requires a strong focus on animal welfare, biosecurity and high production standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily inspection and care of pigs across all age groups
- Feeding, watering, and monitoring animal health and behaviour
- Identifying illness, injury, and reporting concerns promptly
- Assisting with farrowing, weaning, and pig movements
- Carrying out basic treatments under instruction and training
- Maintaining strict hygiene and biosecurity protocols
- Cleaning and disinfecting housing and equipment
- Supporting accurate records (treatments, performance, losses)
- General farm duties as required by the farm manager
- Includes weekend and bank holiday rota
The Candidate:
- Good observation skills and attention to animal welfare
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual farm work
- Willingness to learn and follow procedures
- Previous pig or livestock experience
- Agricultural qualification (Level 2/3 Animal Care or similar)
- Experience with farrowing or finishing units
- Telehandler or machinery experience
- Passion for animal welfare
- Commitment to high farm standards

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
