Maintenance Technician
We are working alongside our long term client who are a global machinery and product manufacturer who have a new opportunity for Label Despatch Operative to join their print team. The company offer an excellent benefits package and positive working environment.
Hours: 38 per week, Monday-Friday, hours to be worked between (Apply online only) (to be agreed with line manager)
Role overview
This role supports both the label and machine production departments of the business and provides ongoing machinery and equipment maintenance across those areas. The role will support all builds and sub-assemblies ensuring they meet quality, safety and efficiency standards as well as traceability and optimal performance through effective maintenance practices. Additionally, the successful applicant will also be responsible for managing internal 3D printing projects which support production, maintenance and tooling and continuous improvement activities.
Key Accountabilities
Maintenance & TPM
* Maintain label plant equipment in line with the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) plan to ensure optimum performance and reliability
* Upkeep and execution of the LDV TPM plan
* Effectively action Mango maintenance requests, corrective actions, and continuous improvement opportunities
* Carry out maintenance and servicing in accordance with manufacturers’ maintenance guidelines
* Support fault diagnosis and repairs, ensuring equipment availability is maximised
Machine Sub-Assembly & Build
* Accurately and efficiently assemble machinery, equipment, and electrical sub-assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and build documentation
* Perform testing, verification, and fault-finding activities to ensure all builds meet defined quality and performance standards
* Ensure sub-assemblies and completed builds are produced right-first-time, maintaining high levels of efficiency and workmanship
* Record build and test results accurately in line with company procedures
Parts, Materials & Traceability
* Accurately scan and record all parts and materials using the DSI application on a remote handheld device
* Ensure real-time stock accuracy and full traceability of all material movements and transactions
* Identify discrepancies in stock or build documentation and escalate appropriately
3D Printing Projects
* Manage and deliver internal 3D printing projects to support maintenance, production, tooling, and improvement initiatives
* Assess suitability of components for 3D printing, including material selection and design considerations
* Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot 3D printers to ensure consistent print quality and reliability
* Coordinate print schedules, manage priorities, and ensure timely delivery of printed components
* Ensure printed parts meet functional, dimensional, and quality requirements before release for use
* Maintain documentation, version control, and traceability for 3D-printed parts and projects
Cost & Spares Management
* Support control of maintenance repair costs in line with agreed budgets
* Assist in evaluating availability of replacement parts versus cost and lead times
* Identify opportunities where 3D printing can reduce cost, lead time, or downtime
* Recommend improvements to reduce equipment downtime and ongoing maintenance costs
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications & experience:
NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Mechatronics/ Maintenance Engineering
Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on industry experience within manufacturing
Basic electrical safety awareness, including safe isolation principles. - 17th or 18th edition would be desirable but not essential
