Overview
Pinnacle Group is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to lead the day-to-day operations and maintenance across a portfolio of schools in Exeter. You will focus on the effective delivery of hard FM services, ensuring all sites remain safe, compliant, and fully operational. The successful candidate will take full ownership of service issues, providing prompt, practical solutions and maintaining strong relationships with school stakeholders. The Total FM team based in Exeter provides integrated asset management and maintenance services across the education, leisure, corporate, health and living sectors to ensure facilities operate at their best. This is a full-time site-based role in Exeter, the working hours are 37.5 hours a week from Monday - Friday.
Key Responsibilities
* Line manage the Caretaking team, including Engineers, providing induction, PPE/uniform and IT equipment for new starters.
* Conduct regular 1:1s and maintain personal development plans, manage staff performance, HR matters, annual leave and disciplinary procedures.
* Ensure contractor Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and work permits are in place.
* Manage financial aspects of contracted works and assist with lifecycle applications.
* Obtain quotes, raise purchase orders, and monitor variations.
* Minimise contract penalties by managing open dockets and service unavailability.
* Review PPM documentation and action remedial works.
* Attend internal and external meetings.
* Participate in out-of-hours call escalation rota.
Key Requirements
* Experience managing facilities or hard services in a multi-site environment.
* Ability to lead and motivate on-site teams and contractors.
* Understanding of Risk Assessments, Method Statements, PPMs.
* Experience managing performance, training, and development of FM staff.
* Skilled in managing budgets, cost control, and procurement.
