We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our manufacturing operation, providing effective preventive and reactive maintenance across site to support production performance and equipment reliability.
Role Purpose
To deliver high-quality mechanical and electrical maintenance support, working closely with production and engineering teams to prioritise work, minimise downtime and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out mechanical and electrical fault finding, diagnosis and repairs on plant and machinery
* Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules and engineering standards
* Support reactive maintenance and breakdown response to minimise production downtime
* Identify failure trends and implement actions to reduce breakdowns, stoppages and quality defects
* Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability enhancements
* Support mechanical and electrical project work as required
* Work collaboratively with production, engineering and supervisory teams to prioritise work
* Liaise with suppliers and contractors for technical support, spares and services
* Ensure Risk Assessments and COSHH assessments are current and adhered to
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping in work areas and workshops
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Apprentice-trained or NVQ / C&G qualified (Mechanical or Electrical)
* Multi-skilled mechanical and electrical capability
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a maintenance engineering role
* Experience of proactive and reactive maintenance and PPM/TPM
* Ability to read hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics
* Strong focus on health & safety, quality and continuous improvement
* Good communication skills and a flexible, adaptable approach
Desirable:
* HNC (Mechanical or Electrical)
* PLC fault-finding/diagnostics
* CMMS experience
* Welding (MIG/TIG), machining (milling/turning)
* Manufacturing experience within extrusion, glass or window environments
* MEWP, FLT, crane or side-loader licences
