Overview
We are seeking a Head of Communications – Regeneration and Major Projects to lead the communications strategies for large-scale regeneration and diverse development programmes across the South.
Responsibilities
This is a key strategic leadership role to lead the strategic communications approach for SNG's regeneration and major development projects that will improve people's lives and support our vision of thriving communities over generations. The successful applicant will help shape the narrative, build trust with local communities, manage stakeholder relationships, and protect the reputation of our regeneration and major projects across our regions.
Your initial priority will be a large regeneration scheme, where SNG owns more than 2,000 homes. This comprises approximately 50% of the housing stock in the local area, representing one of the UK's largest and most impactful estate transformation opportunities.
* Develop and deliver integrated and strategic communications strategies aligned with key projects' objectives, timelines, and stakeholder landscape.
* Advise senior leaders on reputational risks, narrative framing, and public positioning.
* Serve as a key member of the project leadership team, contributing to wider programme decision making.
* Lead the design and delivery of effective and inclusive communications strategies aimed at residents, community groups, local political stakeholders, local media and businesses.
* Manage and advise on relationships with local councillors, MPs, and local authority partners
* Coordinate communications across delivery partners where appropriate (e.g. local authority, other housing associations, developers).
* Ensure alignment of messaging and timelines between programme teams, and wider organisational comms functions.
* Identify and mitigate communications risks across media, political, customer and wider community spaces.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in a senior communications role, ideally within regeneration, infrastructure, housing, or public sector programmes.
* Strong track record in stakeholder engagement, community consultation, and reputation management.
* Excellent political awareness and ability to navigate sensitive environments, including working with elected members and MPs.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
* Experience of leading comms strategies across complex, multi-partner programmes.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at all levels, especially senior leadership and executive.
* Demonstrable experience in identifying and building relationships with diverse stakeholders including government officials, media, advocacy groups, community organisations and industry associations.
* Sound strategic thinking and the ability to navigate complex policy and stakeholder environments
