The Role

  • To take a lead role in the operational management and strategic development of psychology services for the service.
  • Specifically to be responsible for the operational management of waiting lists and for the prioritisation and allocation of referrals via the team.
  • To provide specialist and strategic support to the Head of Service or Core Psychology Lead, deputising (with full control) (hereafter only referred to as Head of Service) when Head of Service is not available.
  • To deputise for the Head of Service at managerial and co-ordination meetings.
  • In the absence of the Head of Service, to assume the operational management of the Service.
  • To provide a significant personal clinical contribution to the NHS Lanarkshire Psychology Services.
  • To be responsible for the Health & Safety Control book if delegated by the Head of Service.
  • The working pattern for this role is Monday - Friday (9am - 5pm).

    Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

    In this key role, you will:

  • To take a lead role in the operational management of the psychology services provided to clients.
  • To manage and co-ordinate the psychology service for those referred to the service within the NHS Lanarkshire geographical area.
  • To be responsible for setting, and monitoring adherence to ethical and professional standards
  • To initiate and undertake clinically relevant research.
  • To participate in national meetings relevant to the overall development of the profession of psychology.
  • What You'll Bring:

    To be eligible for Registration as a Chartered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist as per the requirements laid down by the British Psychological Society (BPS). That is:

    EITHER
    hold a post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, which includes academic, research and clinical components

    OR
    be granted statement of equivalence by the BPS with respect to qualifications gained overseas

    OR
    meet the requirements by having attained chartered status via the grandparenting route.

  • Experience in the management or co-ordination of personnel delivering clinical services.
  • Specific courses in the theory and practice of management and leadership.
