Full Time – 37.5 hours per week. Join a world‑leader in cancer treatment and research at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The role is based in the Surgical Theatres and Brachytherapy department in Manchester.

Key Responsibilities
 * Act as a member of the scrub team, providing high quality peri‑operative care and supporting the surgical team.
 * Plan, deliver and evaluate patient care programmes, ensuring evidence‑based practice.
 * Maintain proficiency with all surgical equipment, ensuring safe use and efficient management.
 * Integrate with the multidisciplinary team to promote a team approach and effective communication.
 * Participate in audit and evaluation of clinical practice and surgical products to drive quality improvement.
 * Develop and maintain professional relationships, recognising and supporting the development of junior staff.
 * Attend on‑call rota, providing emergency cover during out‑of‑hours, weekends and bank holidays as required.
 * Keep Records: access and update computerised patient records, scan track systems and manage controlled drug documentation.
 * Play a role in teaching and assessing medical students, allied health professionals and other trainees where appropriate.
 * Maintain personal and professional registration with NHS or relevant bodies (NMC/HCPC).
Professional Responsibilities
 * Ensure compliance with nursing policies, procedures and team guidelines.
 * Maintain a safe environment, take reasonable care to avoid injury and cooperate with statutory requirements.
 * Provide timely incident reporting and participate in mandatory training.
 * Demonstrate professional accountability and uphold the NMC/HCPC code of conduct.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
 * Registered Nurse (RGN) with anaesthetic qualification or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
 * Diploma‑level education in relevant practice.
 * Evidence of ongoing professional development and current registration.
 * Previous experience in surgical theatres, scrub role, and ability to manage time and workload.
 * Excellent communication, interpersonal and decision‑making skills.
 * Demonstrated commitment to professional values and patient‑focused care.
Desirable Qualifications / Experience
 * Working towards a degree.
 * Mentorship or assessment course completion.
 * Teaching and assessing skills, including IT competency.
 * Previous experience supervising junior staff.
 * Interest in audit and research projects.
Salary & Working Pattern
Band 5 – Salary £31,049 to £37,796 per annum (pro‑rated). Permanent contract, full‑time, 4 days a week across a 6‑day rotation, with out‑of‑hours on‑call duties.
