Our Early Years Educator and Afterschool Club Playworker role is part time, term time, working Monday to Friday shifts 9.00am‑6.00pm.
Role
As an Early Years Educator and Afterschool Club Playworker, you will support the Nursery Manager and other staff to run the club safely and organised, while actively and enthusiastically engaging children aged 3‑11.
You will assist in the delivery of a range of playwork activities such as arts & crafts, sports, team games and other activities. Playwork is about removing barriers to play, enriching the play environment, and providing a safe and secure setting for the children in your care.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Nursery Manager in the safe and organised running of the Nursery and Afterschool club at St Catherine's Primary School.
* Help set up, organise and deliver a range of activities daily and proactively encourage children to participate.
* Assist in the preparation, serving and tidying away of snacks.
* Maintain awareness and sensitivity for children with additional needs (physical, behavioural or dietary).
* Develop strong relationships with all children, ensuring they have fun at the club.
* Develop a thorough understanding of relevant Ofsted standards and Ladybird internal policies and procedures, including safeguarding.
* Ensure all activity areas are left clean and tidy at the end of each day.
Qualifications & Experience
* DFE recognised and approved level 2 early years qualification.
* A passion or interest in working within a childcare, early years or play‑work setting.
* A fun and energetic nature.
* Reliability and effective communication with colleagues and children.
* Ability to relate and engage with children aged 3‑11.
* Experience working in a primary school, pre‑school or nursery (e.g., teaching assistant, early years educator or nursery assistant) is desirable.
* Full training and inductions will be provided to all Afterschool Club Playworkers.
Expected Commitment
Work Monday to Friday shifts 9.00am‑6.00pm during term time; part‑time role.
