Role Overview As a CDM Manager you are expected to have a strong track record in one or, ideally, multiple sectors that BakerHicks operates in. You will be a Chartered Architect/ Engineer/MIOB or equivalent with experience of managing design or acting as a CDM Principal Designer on medium-size projects or managing packages on large projects. You’ll coordinate CDM compliance where BakerHicks have been appointed as Principal Designer under the CDM 2015 Regulations or provide equivalent services where BakerHicks act as an Principal Designer advisor to a third party with the statutory CDM role. Client care and repeat business is crucial to BakerHicks success, so you’ll need to be able to develop and nurture relationships with our clients (both internal and external) Key Purpose Act as Principal Designer on assigned projects and ensure compliance with requirements of CDM 2015 Regulations Provide training and advice on CDM good practice and compliance to BakerHicks designers and project managers Facilitate regular CDM Reviews with design disciplines on assigned projects Provide input into BakerHicks tender submissions Management of all aspects of CDM principal Designer services on projects, including time, cost, quality and client relationship management and delivery Responsibilities and Accountabilities Responsibilities - Those who do the work to complete the task Accountabilities - Ultimately answerable for the correct and thorough completion of the deliverable or task, the one who ensures the prerequisites of the task are met and who delegates the work to those responsible Responsibilities Provide Principal Designer services on behalf of Baker Hicks under the direction of the line manager/Project Manager. Confirm CDM duty holders and responsibilities for the project. Existing site information (PCI) - review, advice and coordination Facilitate CDM reviews with the design team team. Initiate, update and re-issue CDM Reg 9 Risk Register Obtain and review designers' maintenance access strategy Issue Pre Construction Information document Liaison with the Principal Contractor when appointed Collate and issue the H&S File Monitoring of project fee spend and deliver commercial objectives including monitoring of invoicing Cost Value projections. Accountabilities Ensure that BakerHicks complies with the requirements of CDM 2015 regulations Ensure compliance with company quality management and best practice Provide feedback to the Project Manager and where relevant the client on the status of CDM Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications Essential Chartered Architect/Engineer or equivalent relevant Professional body Significant knowledge/experience of design of projects in at least one sector and discipline that BakerHicks operates in. Knowledge of design of projects/ construction for at least one sector that BakerHicks operates in i.e. Public Sector, Aviation, Power, Life Sciences, Rail, Highways, Power, Defence, Nuclear Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to eloquently present complex ideas. Strong ability to develop enduring relationships with both internal and external stakeholders that deliver long term benefits. Outstanding technical writing experience. Experience of contributing to bids, proposals Ability to work with Minimal supervision Desirable Demonstratable experience of multi-disciplinary projects in several sectors that BakerHicks operates in. Experience of Custodial projects for the MOJ.
