To support its continued growth, the firm is seeking to recruit a qualified Solicitor with proven experience in civil litigation and a strong working knowledge of financial mis-selling claims, particularly involving PCP/car finance commission.
Position Overview:
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and supportive legal team at the firm’s head office in Manchester. The role will involve managing a full caseload of financial mis-selling matters and litigated claims, from initial instruction through to resolution, including court proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Handling financial mis-selling claims, particularly those involving PCP/car finance commission
2. Managing files through all stages of litigation, including pre-action, pleadings, disclosure, witness evidence, and trial preparation
3. Preparing and submitting complaints and claims to FCA members, brokers, the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), and Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)
4. Drafting legal documents including statements of case, witness statements, and trial bundles
5. Instructing and liaising with Counsel
6. Maintaining accurate client records using the firm’s case management systems
7. Providing ad hoc training and support to junior team members and paralegals
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
8. Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales)
9. Experience in civil litigation and handling financial mis-selling claims
10. Strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and/or consumer credit/financial mis-selling legislation
11. Demonstrated ability to manage a litigated caseload efficiently
12. Excellent drafting, communication, and organisational skills
13. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
14. High level of IT proficiency, including Adobe, Word, and Excel
15. Strong interpersonal skills with a professional and approachable manner
16. Time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
Desirable:
17. Experience in group litigation or omnibus claims
18. Familiarity with the FCA’s current position on car finance commission claims
19. Prior experience in training or mentoring junior legal staff
