About the role
King's Vision 2029, the organisation's overarching strategic plan, articulates a clear and bold ambition for the future of digital provision across the university, supported by King's Digital. Specifically, it references an "aim to be the UK leader in online and blended delivery by 2029".
To ensure this objective of Vision 2029 is realised, King's Digital has embarked on an exciting and large-scale change programme to take the department to the next level. We are committed to excellence in education and dedicated to providing students with unparalleled learning experiences that prepare them for success in a rapidly evolving world.
King's Digital is seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Head of Project Management to lead the delivery of a diverse and expanding portfolio of online programmes and projects, ensuring alignment with the King's Digital vision and broader strategic objectives.
This pivotal role will be responsible for managing the project management team, driving successful execution across all initiatives, while fostering collaboration, agility, innovation and accountability.
You will work closely with King's Digital colleagues, as well as academic and professional services staff across the university to translate project requirements into clear delivery plans, ensuring timelines, resources and deliverables are effectively planned, coordinated and met.
Reporting to the Director of Production and working in close partnership with the Head of Programme Development and the Head of Learning Design, the successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering digital education during a period of rapid and exciting growth.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Significant experience leading and managing complex project portfolios within a digital, educational or technology-driven environment.
2. Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Agile project management methodologies, including implementing project delivery frameworks that enhance operational excellence.
3. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, particularly when working across technical and academic teams.
4. Advanced proficiency in ClickUp (or similar workflow platform), including configuration, workflow optimisation, and dashboard/report development for monitoring capacity, and task-time tracking alignment.
5. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret project and operational data to drive improvements in efficiency, reduce costs, and minimise waste.
6. Demonstrable ability to lead, manage, and develop high-performing project management teams, including setting clear objectives, coaching for performance, innovation and fostering professional growth.
7. Strong problem-solving and risk management capabilities, with experience resolving complex challenges, escalations, and negotiating successful outcomes with stakeholders.
8. Ability to generate and interpret meaningful business analytics from project data to drive continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
Desirable criteria
1. Experience of developing online programmes.
2. Agile/project management qualification.
3. Skilled user of project management applications e.g. MS Project, Trello.
4. Experience of working in the Higher Education sector.
