SEND Learning and Support Assistant
Location: York
Pay: £–£ per hour
Start Date: Immediate (ASAP)
Contract: Full-time – Long-term, with the opportunity to become permanent
We are working with a highly respected specialist provision in York and are looking for a SEND Learning and Support Assistant to join their dedicated team as soon as possible.
This is a hands-on, rewarding role supporting students with a range of complex needs including PMLD, autism, and behavioural challenges. Some personal care may be required, and you’ll play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop life skills, and feel supported in an inclusive environment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
2. Assisting with personal care and daily routines where required
3. Supporting engagement in lessons, therapies, and sensory activities
4. Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
5. Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff
6. Creating a safe, nurturing environment where every child can thrive
