Overview
Our innovation strategy is simple – we want to solve the challenges we have today as well as find answers to some of our industry’s bigger long‑term challenges. Whether it’s delivering water that is always good to drink, reducing waste in our processes with energy efficient technologies or improving visibility of the network, our 150+ strong team of innovators are working day in day out to make it happen. If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.
Our Network Optimisation teams are responsible for ensuring that Severn Trent meets and improves our expected water supply service standards for our customers. They are effectively the architect of our network, adapting its configuration and controls, performing root‑cause analysis investigations of system failures, identifying ways to put things right, working out how to proactively improve performance of the network and developing proposals to ensure the short and long‑term performance of the water network. Within this Technician role you will therefore be responsible for providing technical expertise on our water supply network, investigating asset performance, providing analysis and investigation, and producing technical reports using hydraulic modelling. You will typically have great analytical and problem‑solving skills, with an ability to determine and promote the best solution that delivers a quality and reliable service, and communicate complex ideas clearly to a range of different stakeholders. So, if you think you have the right mindset for this role, keep on reading.
Are you a determined individual who likes to find the underlying cause of problems and takes pride in finding resolutions for them? And perhaps you are a proactive individual who can use their own intuition? You’ll need to be able to use IT systems. It goes without saying you’ll have excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to influence colleagues of all levels effectively. You’ll have strong organisational skills and you’ll be able to work on your own initiative.
We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities.
