You’ll play a vital part in keeping ourmunity clean, safe, and weing. As a Refuse, Recycling and Street Cleansing Operative, you’ll work outdoors in all weather, carrying out essential services that directly improve the environment and daily life of local residents.Key Responsibilities
1. Refuse & recycling collection — Safely load, lift and move waste and recycling containers, including items over 16kg, for more than half of each working day.
2. Street cleansing duties — Litter picking, sweeping, emptying street bins, and maintaining public spaces to a high standard.
3. Public interaction — Engage politely and professionally with members of the public during daily rounds.
4. Team collaboration — Work closely with colleagues toplete routes efficiently and safely.
5. Vehicle and equipment use — Operate tools and equipment as required, following all safety procedures.
Essential Experience & Requirements
6. Outdoor manual work in paid employment, including heavy lifting of items over 16kg for more than 50% of a working day.
7. Working in all weather conditions — rain, wind, heat, and cold.
8. Face‑to‑face public interaction — confident, polite, and helpfulmunication.
9. Teamwork experience in a practical, hands‑on environment.
10. Good level of physical fitness and the ability to work safely at all times.
11. Reliability, punctuality, and a positive, can‑do attitude.
