Who You Are If you are someone who shares our passion for working with 16 and 17-year-old young people and their families and has a determination to achieve positive outcomes for them, then the Homeless Intervention Team may well be for you! You should be tenacious, persistent, resilient, and excellent at developing positive relationships with young people, their families, and partner agencies. An understanding of the issues young people face with homelessness and knowledge of legislation relating to homeless young people is essential. What the Job Involves The role is based within the Homeless Intervention Team, working with young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Your focus will be to support these young people to remain at or return home to live with their families where it is safe for them to do so. If living at home isn't possible, you'll explore accommodation options and assess support needs to develop independent living skills. The position involves supporting young people through assessments as Children in Need and in some cases as Looked After Children. The team consists of Social Workers and Specialist Family Support Workers. Skills Significant experience in working with children and families Post-qualifying experience as a Social Worker Specialist knowledge of theories and social work practices Detailed knowledge of current legislation relating to children and families Strong communication skills, both oral and written Good interpersonal and relationship-building abilities Effective organizational and multitasking skills Proficiency in IT skills Negotiation and liaison skills A professional qualification in social work and Social Work England Registration
