Hardware Engineering Manager (Avionics & Robotics) Maidenhead | Mostly Onsite
Most engineering manager roles sit a layer removed from the product.
This one puts you right in the middle of it.
You’ll be leading a multidisciplinary team building next-generation autonomous aircraft systems - where avionics, embedded systems and robotics all come together in one tightly integrated platform.
Everything is done in-house. Design, build, integration, test.
That means your decisions don’t sit on slides - they show up in hardware.
You’ll lead from the front, balancing technical direction with team leadership, making sure systems are robust, compliant and actually deliver in the real world.
You’ll be:
* Leading and developing a team across avionics, embedded and robotics
* Guiding system architecture, design decisions and trade-offs
* Driving engineering standards across safety-critical development
* Working closely with product, programme and flight teams to deliver capability
* Building a high-performing culture focused on quality, pace and ownership
This isn’t a pure management role. You’ll need enough depth to challenge engineers, shape direction and make calls on complex systems.
What they’re looking for
* Background in avionics, embedded systems or robotics
* Experience leading engineering teams in complex, safety-critical environments
* Strong understanding of systems engineering and lifecycle delivery
* Ability to balance technical leadership with people development
Experience with aerospace standards (DO-178, DO-254 etc.) is a strong plus.
If you’re an engineering leader who still cares about the product, enjoys solving real hardware problems, and wants to build something meaningful - this is a strong opportunity.
