Job Summary
The Neurology Nurse Specialist will work across numerous specialities within the neurology spectrum, providing expertise in identification and management of long‑term conditions such as Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s and Motor Neurone Disease. You will deliver high‑quality, safe services to patients throughout Cheshire and Merseyside, with involvement in services delivered in North Wales.
Main Duties
* Provide in‑depth assessment of people with long‑term neurological conditions, considering comorbidities, and produce a comprehensive nursing assessment, care plan and evaluate interventions.
* Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure patients’ needs are met.
* Develop nurse‑led clinics to provide information and support for patients.
Qualifications – Essential
* Current NMC Registration
* 1st level Diploma/degree relevant to clinical specialty
* Portfolio showing evidence and experience in long‑term neurological conditions
* Minimum one specialty area experience (Parkinson’s, epilepsy, MS, or MND)
* Willingness to work towards a masters level qualification and non‑medical prescribing
* Successful completion of Neuroscience Module
Qualifications – Desirable
* Post‑basic qualification in leadership and/or management
* Teaching qualification
Knowledge & Experience – Essential
* Advanced clinical experience within Neurology
* Evidence of leading and developing patient pathways
* Line‑management experience of ward/specialised nursing teams
* Experience implementing change, clinical audit and benchmarking
* Independent clinical decision making
* Expertise in at least one long‑term neurological condition
* Knowledge of KPIs relevant to specialty
* Ability to deliver educational programmes relevant to specialty
* Ability to write reports aligning service with trust strategic objectives
* Initiate, undertake and participate in audit and research relevant to service needs
Knowledge & Experience – Desirable
* Proactive involvement in development of nurses and nursing practice
* Presentations at conferences
