The Role: What You’ll Be Doing As a key member of the team, you will take ownership of a portfolio of small business clients, supporting both bookkeeping and accounts preparation. Key responsibilities include: Managing client bookkeeping using cloud accounting software Liaising directly with clients via email and telephone Preparing and submitting VAT returns Assisting with Making Tax Digital (MTD) processes and development Supporting senior accountants with: Accounts preparation up to trial balance Potential production of management accounts Ensuring deadlines are met and maintaining high accuracy standards Occasional travel to client sites to collect records About You: Skills & Experience Required To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong foundation in UK accountancy practice and a proactive approach to client service. Essential requirements: Minimum 3 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice Proven experience preparing accounts for: Sole traders Limited companies Partnerships Strong working knowledge of cloud-based accounting software, ideally including: Xero Sage Business Cloud QuickBooks FreeAgent Excellent understanding of bookkeeping and accounts preparation processes Ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet deadlines Strong communication and organisational skills High level of attention to detail Additional requirements: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (required for occasional client visits) Salary & Benefits Package £32,000 – £38,000, depending on experience and qualifications Clear career progression pathway towards Senior Accountant level Exposure to a diverse client portfolio across multiple sectors Ongoing professional development and training support Supportive and collaborative team environment Modern, cloud-focused practice with up-to-date systems Flexible working arrangements (where appropriate) Opportunity to gain further responsibility and client ownership Why Join This Firm?
