About the role
As a Senior Data Analyst within the Data and Analytics team, you will form part of the team responsible for the development and improvement of the company’s core datasets. Your numeracy skills, thematic knowledge, and imagination will help to drive the ongoing evolution and development of the geospatial risk datasets and maximize their commercial potential to a global audience. You will have the opportunity to be creative through the development of new datasets, models, and products that deliver risk intelligence to our corporate, investor and insurance clients in line with our data strategy and the global risk landscape. You will be based in London, Bath or Edinburgh and report to the Team Lead – Geospatial Risk Analytics. We strongly encourage you to write a covering letter as part of your application.
About the day-to-day responsibilities of the role
1. Supporting the update cycle of the company’s global geospatial risk datasets.
2. Ensure data integrity, quality, accuracy and full auditability of data by validating, cross-checking and cleaning the data as needed.
3. Leading by example for more junior colleagues around quantitative skills, attention to detail, quality assurance and commercial awareness.
4. Be a capable and trusted member of the Geospatial Risk Data team that can independently lead innovative projects and deliver timely, accurate results.
5. Propose and implement the improvement and creation of datasets and methodologies by synthesizing client feedback, identifying new data sources and researching global trends.
6. Conduct analysis and insights into the company’s core datasets and support colleagues and clients with questions, in a clear and concise manner.
7. Working collaboratively with functions across the business, such as Technology, Sales, Marketing and Research teams.

Qualifications
About you
8. Masters level (or equivalent) qualification in a subject with a quantitative element (required).
9. 5+ years of work experience in a quantitative role (required), preferably within ESG or risk analytics.
10. Technical skills: Advanced Excel skills (required), experience of using geospatial analysis tools, ArcGIS, QGIS (preferred), experience using Python for data analysis including relevant statistics and visualizations libraries (preferred).
11. Strong numeracy skills, including basic understanding of statistical principles (required).
12. Demonstrate a commitment to data quality and attention to detail (required).
13. Experience of working with large, geospatial, multi-dimensional data (preferred).
14. Analytical mind-set with the ability to identify key trends and insights from complex and interrelated data (preferred).
15. Experience working with clients in a customer-centric business (preferred).
16. Strong interpersonal and communication skills - able to work with varied teams and articulate complex subjects clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders (required).
17. Confidence in working both independently, showing initiative, and as part of a team in pursuit of shared objectives (required).
18. Domain knowledge, either through qualifications or work experience, in one or several of human rights, politics, the environment, or economics. Candidates with strong domain knowledge in climate change, earth systems, natural hazards, or environment-related fields are especially preferred.
