Job overview
Medical Day Unit (MDU) is a small and effective nurse led infusions unit, facilitating treatments for a variety of chronic medical specialities.
The service is expanding to meet the patient demand and isopen from 08:00-17:00, Monday to Saturdays.
The current team are friendly, organised and efficient, who excel in positive patient feedback.
Main duties of the job
Duties:
* Venepuncture
* Sampling bloods from Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD)
* Cannulation
* ECG recording
* Transportation of patients between wards and departments
* Preparation of bed spaces/rooms
* Be aware of own limitations and know to seek advice
* Taking accountability for patient admission documentation- being supervised by a trained nursing colleague
* Maintain a high standard of record keeping ensuring all entries are accurate and legible
* Acknowledge difficulties with communication and provide support and seek help as required

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be required to provide Clinical Support Worker skills within the Medical Day Unit.
They must be flexible, dynamic and have the ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
You will be familiar with, and work to, the protocols and polices of the Trust, paying particular attention to infection control, equality and diversity and privacy and dignity.
The role requires close liaison with other disciplines and the provision of a courteous, reliable and quality service to patient’s relatives and carers, healthcare professionals and all wards and departments across the Trust.
To be aware of the Health and Safety polices in relation to patients and staff.
