IT Systems & Data Manager
Location: Rossendale, Lancashire
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week | 4 days office based & 1 day Working from Home - Permanent, Full-Time

Our client is a leading group of companies in the hire industry supporting key construction, infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the UK. As they continue to invest in their digital infrastructure, they are looking for an experienced and proactive IT Systems & Data Manager to lead and develop their internal IT capabilities.
Role Overview
As the IT Systems & Data Manager, you will oversee the IT infrastructure, business systems, software platforms and data governance across the group. This includes managing third-party IT providers, ensuring system uptime, supporting users across departments, and maintaining data quality and security. You will work closely with operational and finance teams to optimise reporting and streamline processes through technology.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Systems Management -
* Oversee and maintain core business systems, including ERP, hire management software, fleet telematics and finance systems (e.g., Sage).
* Manage and liaise with external IT support providers and software vendors.
* Maintain and support Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, InspHire and other productivity tools.
* Ensure IT hardware, networking equipment and telephony systems are up to date and fit for purpose.
* Coordinate system upgrades, integrations, migrations and rollouts.
* Develop and maintain system documentation and user guides.
Data Management & Reporting -
* Oversee data integrity and quality across multiple systems and departments.
* Lead the creation of standardised management reports, dashboards and KPIs (e.g., hire utilisation, debt, fleet performance).
* Work with finance, operations and hire desk teams to consolidate and automate reporting.
* Identify opportunities to improve workflows and decision-making using data.
Security & Compliance
* Implement and maintain cybersecurity policies, including access control, backup procedures and data protection measures.
* Ensure compliance with GDPR and other relevant regulations.
* Conduct regular audits of user access and data processes.
Project & Change Management
* Lead or support IT-related projects such as new software implementations, cloud transitions, or system consolidations.
* Engage stakeholders across the business to understand technology needs and recommend solutions.
* Promote best practices in data and systems usage across the group.
Key Skills & Experience:
Essential -
* Proven experience in an IT or Systems Manager role, ideally within a multi-site or group organisation.
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, databases (SQL or similar) and business systems.
* Experience working with or overseeing third-party IT providers.
* Good understanding of data reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, or equivalent).
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* Able to translate business needs into practical IT solutions.
Desirable -
* Experience in the plant hire, construction, or logistics sectors.
* Familiarity with software platforms such as Syrinx, InspHire, or similar hire/asset management tools.
* Understanding of finance systems (e.g., Sage 50/200) and integration between systems.
* Awareness of ITIL principles and cybersecurity frameworks.
