An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nursing Associate to join the Children & Young People’s Continuing Care Team.

We are a growing team within CCICP looking after children with complex needs. The children are referred into our team for support at home/ schools or respite centres. We put in trained carers to support the family and child. The Children’s Continuing Care Team is dedicated to supporting children and young people with complex medical needs. We provide high quality care to children and young people within South Cheshire and Vale Royal. Nurse Associates provide skilled care to support these families, which is often a 1:1 with the child; the hours for this post are to cover night shifts, and days shifts including weekdays and weekends, in the home and in other community settings.

Responsibilities

* Carry out skilled nursing care for children and young people in accordance with the plan of care, often on a 1:1 basis with the child, in the home, school, or community settings.
* Work night shifts and day shifts including weekdays and weekends as required, in the home and in other community settings.
* Implement care as directed by a Primary Care Registered Nurse and report back as agreed.
* Work in conjunction with the family, teachers, other carers, and other health care professionals to ensure a holistic approach to the child’s care, wherever it is needed, and work without direct supervision where appropriate.
* Develop and maintain clinical competence and skills by undertaking a competency-based training programme, with assessment and re-assessment at regular intervals.
* Promote health, comfort, dignity, privacy and a quality of life whilst supporting and promoting the child and families rights.
* Work within the continuing care framework and protocols, providing and maintaining a high standard of care to patients/carers as delegated.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Are you a Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC Register with a Foundation Degree?
* Are you passionate about providing high quality, flexible care for children and families to support them to manage their day to day lives?
* Would you like to learn new clinical care skills including tracheostomy, gastrostomy and jejunostomy care, oxygen therapy and more?
* Do you have good communication skills, are reliable and flexible as working hours may vary on a week-to-week basis?

You will be offered bespoke competency-based training as well as NHS mandatory training relevant to your role. Support will be provided by registered nurses and experienced health care assistants so that you gain the knowledge and skills required to care for these children.

About the Trust

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008. We employ almost 5,000 members of staff, provide around 540 hospital beds, with a range of services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children’s health. The Trust is also part of Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP), a unique local health partnership that provides a range of community services for people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Trust was recognised nationally for its ‘Be Safe Be EquiPPEd’ campaign, which aimed to make the Trust as safe as possible for staff and patients, through supporting the correct use of PPE. The results in the 2020 national NHS Staff Survey showed improvements in all elements of the safety culture theme, with 92% of respondents feeling their role made a difference to our patients. We were also recognised nationally for our workforce health and wellbeing initiatives.

At Mid Cheshire, we value our staff and appreciate that in order to give our patients the best quality, compassionate care, we also need to look after our colleagues.
