Applications from post CCT trainees will also be considered. The job will allow the successful candidate to undertake focused training in Paediatric Emergency medicine (PEM) and Medical Education. The successful candidate will contribute to the Emergency Department middle grade rota for 50% of their contracted time. The other 50% of the time will be spent in PEM related Medical Education/Simulation.
This post would also be suitable for a post MRCPCH Paediatrician with an interest in applying for Grid Training in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
The trainee will have an opportunity to gain a Medical Educational or PEM related qualification. Funding for this will be provided by Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The candidate will be expected to help deliver Medical Education within Paediatric Emergency Medicine and across the trust. There will be opportunities for research, and it will be expected that the candidate will contribute to this.
The PEM Fellow will be encouraged to take a lead in developing and delivering local Paediatric Emergency Medicine simulation training events. Bradford hosts nationally recognised simulation courses e.g., ACCS course, CRUMPET course, PEM CT3 course; as well as regular multidisciplinary training including local Emergency Medicine trainees. They will also be encouraged to attend regional Emergency Medicine simulation courses e.g., ACCS, ST4, Faculty, CRUMPET, NTS study day; and College of Emergency Medicine simulation events. The Emergency Department runs regular in situ paediatric simulation sessions for medical and nursing staff which the PEM Fellow will co-ordinate.

The successful applicant's main clinical role in the Paediatric Emergency Department is to provide clinical work at middle grade level in the department and to supervise members of the junior medical staff on a continuous basis (as outlined in the job plan).
The successful applicant would take part in a full shift rota with other ST4-6 and SAS / Specialty doctors. Night shifts 22.00 – 08.30 are worked on a 1 in 6 basis with 1 in 3 weekends [either, 15.00-midnight or the night shift] both with prospective cover for annual leave.
