Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group is looking for two full time Consultant Geriatrician, to join our Older Peoples Services (OPS) team based predominantly on the Whipps Cross Hospital site.
These posts offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and to develop new models of working and services that support all older people attending the hospital and within the local community. Whipps Cross Hospital serves a local population with a high degree of frailty and within the Barts Health Group is being developed to be a centre for Geriatric medicine.
Main duties of the job

As part of the development of Whipps Cross as a centre for frailty, Whipps Cross Hospital in 2021 became a centre of excellence for fragility fracture care, leading to an expansion in the workforce required to revolutionise the care for these patients and other orthopaedic patients with fragility fractures.
These post offers a unique opportunity to participate in the redevelopment of the Hospital itself as well as the services we provide as Whipps Cross looks forward to the building of a new Hospital and care pathways to provide truly gold standard care to our frail elderly patients.
You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be on the Specialist Registrar or within 6 months of obtaining CCST.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Must be on the GMC specialist register for Geriatric Medicine or within six months of CCT
* Full GMC Registration with license to practice
* Evidence of participation in research (peer reviewed publications etc.)
* Appropriate higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD or equivalent
Experience
* Higher specialist training in Geriatrics and G(I)Medicine
* Broad experience in Geriatrics and G(I)M
* Current ALS certificate
* Ability to organise and deliver a teaching programme.
* Experience in Service Development
Knowledge
* Detailed knowledge of Geriatrics and G(I)M and of the specialist skills required for this post.
* Knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit and demonstrable commitment to improving quality of care to patients
* Understanding of modern medical curricula and commitment to life-long learning
Skills
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience of supervising medical staff
* Ability to teach medical students and junior medical and nursing staff.
* Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs nurses and other agencies.
Others
* Flexible and co-operative approach to colleagues
* Self-motivated with an enquiring, critical approach to work
* Good leadership skills
* Enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure.
