Te Puna Reo o Te Ahi Kaikōura a Tama ki Te Rangi is a pioneering Māori language early learning centre, opened in February 2024. We are seeking two passionate kaiako to join our team before the end of September 2025, teaching and caring for tamariki aged 6 months to 6 years.

Our puna is dedicated to revitalising te reo Māori and upskilling whānau. By nurturing tamariki, we aim to inspire whānau, whānui, and the wider community to embrace te reo, connect with te ao Māori, and gain the skills to achieve their aspirations.

This is a unique opportunity to shape a new space, working within a Kaupapa Māori framework to revitalise our language and culture.

What we’re looking for:

* Two recognised ECE qualified and registered kaiako (or one primary qualified and registered for the right applicant)
* Whakapakari Tohu (ideal, not essential)
* Willingness to speak and learn te reo Māori
* Current First Aid Certificate
* Genuine passion for teaching and nurturing children, fostering a love of learning and appreciation for te reo me ngā Tikanga Māori
* Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Although there is an expectation to speak te reo Māori throughout the day, confidence in te reo is not a necessity as long as you have a willingness to learn alongside a supportive team. Te reo Māori professional development is available.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the cultural and educational landscape of Kaikōura. If you are a dedicated kaiako with a passion for language revitalisation and empowering tamariki, we invite you to apply and be part of our pioneering team.
