Role Summary
This is a hybrid role, combining remote work with on-site presence in Frimley and occasional travel. The focus is on ensuring the reliability and efficiency of IM&T's technological environment. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will collaborate with the team to deliver and maintain resilient infrastructure solutions, playing a key role in advancing the DI IT roadmap. This involves providing consulting, design, and support for implementation. It’s an excellent opportunity for applying technical expertise and driving innovation to enhance IT capabilities.
While the role offers a hybrid working environment, on-site presence in Guildford and occasional travel are required to ensure deep integration with the team and infrastructure.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Design and Develop Infrastructure: Create and maintain infrastructure solutions to ensure performance and reliability.
2. Monitor Performance: Oversee infrastructure health and availability.
3. Technical Issue Management: Manage hardware including batteries, RAM, CPU, GPU, and devices.
4. Remote Desktop Management: Manage remote desktop environments and whitelisted software/services.
5. Service Desk Support: Act as escalation point for IT issues, performing triage, prioritization, and resolution.
6. Automation and Documentation: Write automation scripts and document systems and practices.
7. Security and Compliance: Ensure security, confidentiality, and compliance with regulations.
8. Collaboration and Improvement: Work with suppliers and peers to improve delivery and support objectives.
9. Team Leadership: Mentor team members, provide technical guidance, and support adherence to security standards.
What we’re looking for
1. Experience: 5+ years as an Infrastructure Engineer.
2. Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, server management, cloud platforms (VMWare), Citrix, Cisco networking, and enterprise management.
3. Problem Solving: Ability to develop innovative solutions and resolve issues.
4. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, capable of explaining technical concepts to stakeholders.
5. Team Collaboration: Ability to work within a team and collaborate with stakeholders.
6. Security Clearance: Must hold or be willing to obtain SC clearance.
7. Certifications: VCP, VCAP, MCSE, CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certifications.
8. Third-Party Management: Experience working with IT service providers.
9. Organizational Experience: Experience in large, matrixed organizations managing conflicting priorities.
