The Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust have another opportunity
which has arisen within the Facilities Directorate for a part time General
Porter to join our dedicated facilities team in Portering. To provide an efficient, effective and fully comprehensive Portering service across
Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury.
The part-time hours are 15 hours per week, based on rostered shift patterns.
We are looking for lively and enthusiastic individuals that have excellent
interpersonal and communication skills who are well motivated and
hardworking and able to work as part of our team.
Previous experience of working within a healthcare environment would be
advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
1. Movement of patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, beds and trolley.
2. Collection, sorting and delivery of post as required from departments within the hospital, receipt and distribution of internal and external mail to include special/recorded mail.
3. Change medical gas cylinders on wards and departments, using and adhering to appropriate methods of training and methods.
4. Stores receipt & distribution
5. Bloods, samples and specimen collection / deliveries
6. Delivery / collection of clean & dirty linen
7. Collect, segregate and dispose of all types of waste, domestic, clinical, hazardous etc in the designated collection points.
8. Moving light equipment i.e. beds, lockers and chairs throughout the hospital.
Communicate with colleagues using telephone, radio and bleep system providing a professional and friendly service at all times
