HR Advisor
📍 Location: Newport, Isle of Wight
⏳ Contract: 3 months initially
đź•’ Hours: 37 hours per week
đź’· Rate: ÂŁ30 per hour (Umbrella) - (ÂŁ23 PAYE an hour)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Human Resources team at Isle of Wight Council, supporting the delivery of a proactive and high-quality HR Advisory Service across schools on the Island.
We’re looking for an experienced HR Advisor who is proactive, solution-focused, and ready to make an impact from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise and guide Headteachers, School Business Managers, and Senior Leaders on a wide range of HR issues.
Manage a caseload of formal employee relations matters, including disciplinary, capability, sickness absence, and grievance cases.
Professionally support and lead on casework from initial advice to resolution.
Design and deliver training sessions related to HR policy and best practice.
Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, guidance notes, and intranet resources to ensure accessibility and relevance.
Assist managers and staff in interpreting and applying HR policies, ensuring consistent and fair practice across schools.What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience in a HR advisory or generalist role, ideally in the education or public sector.
Strong knowledge and understanding of employment law and HR best practice.
Ability to manage sensitive and complex cases with professionalism and confidentiality.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
