Role
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Social Worker to join our Flying Start Parent Support Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to families by delivering evidence‑based techniques and strategies that promote positive outcomes.
What you will do
* Work directly with parents through one‑to‑one sessions, group activities, and community engagement
* Support families to overcome challenges and access the help they need
* Contribute to a collaborative, multi‑agency approach to early intervention
Key Responsibilities
* Professionally manage a caseload consistent with responsibilities and grade, including both 1:1 work and facilitation of a Health and Wellbeing group for parents
* Supervise a small number of practitioners within the Parent Support Team
* Work in partnership with professionals and agencies across Flying Start, Families First, Mental Health, statutory sector, third sector and relevant independent agencies
* Provide targeted support to parents within the Flying Start programme
* Create, develop and deliver groups, workshops, and activities that promote Health and Wellbeing
* Work collaboratively with families, professionals, and partner agencies to ensure holistic support
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to service planning and evaluation
* Promote inclusion and equality in all aspects of service delivery
About You – Qualifications
* Degree in Social Work or recognised equivalent (DipSW, CQSW, etc.)
* Registration with Social Care Wales (or eligibility to register)
* Evidence of continued professional development relevant to mental health or early intervention
* Minimum 2 years post‑qualifying social work experience within mental health, perinatal mental health, early intervention, or family‑support settings
* Experience of supervising others
* Experience delivering structured 1:1 or group interventions that promote wellbeing and resilience
* Experience delivering evidence‑based parenting, wellbeing or mental‑health programmes
* Strong understanding of Wales Safeguarding Procedures and safeguarding legislation relevant to children and families
* Ability to manage a varied and demanding caseload while maintaining high quality practice standards
* Ability to work collaboratively with professionals across health, education and social care
* Committed to trauma‑informed, strengths‑based and person‑centred practice
* Solution‑focused, resilient and self‑motivated
Pay Details
Grade 8: SCP 26 – 30 – £37,280 – £40,777
Grade 9: SCP 31 – 35 – £41,771 – £46,142
Salary on appointment will depend upon qualification and experience as determined by the appointing officer. There is no automatic progression from Grade 8 to Grade 9.
Hours of Work / Working Pattern
37 hours per week – Monday to Friday
Main Place of Work
Located in Barry but covering the Vale of Glamorgan
