We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Electrician at HMP Frankland, Brasside, Durham DH1 5YD.

The base salary is £29,009 - £35,015.

Standard hours of work: 39 hours per week. Monday to Friday 07:30 - 16:30; Saturday to Sunday 08:00 - 16:00. A need to work 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis, with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.

Responsibilities

* Planned and preventative electrical maintenance, including administrative duties aligned to the tasks.
* Actively fault finding/problem solving on electrical systems across the prison.
* Carry out like‐for‐like replacements and other electrical minor works with the relevant electrical inspections and tests carried out and results recorded in accordance with BS7671.
* Ensure that all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and functioning effectively to create a secure and well‑maintained environment for staff and residents.
* Assist the Responsible Person and Authorised Person when requested.
* Ensure Health & Safety standards, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work are consistently implemented and followed across all appropriate work streams.
* Assist escorting duties and other duties as required.


Qualifications & Skills

* City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation works or equivalent.
* BS7671 18th Edition (consideration for 17th Edition with upskilling to 18th Edition).
* Good working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
* Good working knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance operations.
* Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
* Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines.
* Able to work at heights, work independently, and use initiative.
* Understanding of fire alarm and CCTV systems (desirable).
* Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Basic IT skills.

Security Clearance

Prison Security Clearance including Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) will be required. Amey will support you through this process.
