Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Shifts: 19:00–07:00, fixed pattern (3 nights on, 3 nights off)

Essential: NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)

About the Role

Highbury Home is a newly established residential home for young people aged 11–17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties. We are seeking skilled and compassionate Therapeutic Support Workers (Waking Nights) to join a forward-thinking team dedicated to delivering outstanding-level care.

You will be responsible for supporting the emotional, physical, and psychological well-being of young people during the night. Working within a trauma-informed model of care, you will ensure safety, promote stability, and contribute meaningfully to each child's development.

Our Vision

Highbury Home is built on a clear mission: to raise the standard of residential childcare. We are committed to offering our young people a life comparable to that of their peers in stable, nurturing families—rich in opportunity, safety, and belonging.

We operate as a therapeutic home with regular input from a Clinical Psychologist. The setting includes a sensory room, structured therapeutic spaces, a landscaped garden, and recreational areas to support emotional regulation and well-being.

We use a fully digital recording system, ensuring less time is spent on administration and more on direct care and interaction.

Core Responsibilities

* Provide overnight therapeutic care, supervision, and safeguarding in line with each young person's care plan
* Maintain a calm, structured, and emotionally attuned environment
* Support young people through trauma-informed approaches and de-escalation techniques
* Model positive behaviour, resilience, and empathy at all times
* Maintain clear and accurate electronic records of observations and incidents
* Collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure consistency of care and communication across shifts

Candidate Profile

* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) – required
* Experience in residential childcare or a similar role (preferred)
* Confident, reliable, and emotionally resilient under pressure
* Excellent verbal and written communication
* Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
* Legally authorised to work in the UK and fluent in English

What We Offer

* £14.00 per hour
* Double pay on special holidays
* Enhanced DBS paid by employer
* Comprehensive induction and fully funded continuous professional development
* Clear internal progression pathway
* Company pension
* On-site parking
* Regular staff development and wellbeing events
* An empowering and supportive team culture
