Key Responsibilities
* Accounts Processing: Manage and process day-to-day financial transactions, including sales and purchase invoices, bank reconciliations, and credit control.
* VAT Returns: Assist in the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
* Payroll Support: Support the payroll function, including the preparation of payroll data and ensuring timely payments.
* Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of monthly and year-end financial reports.
* Client Invoicing: Prepare and issue client invoices and ensure accurate record-keeping.
* Data Entry & Filing: Maintain and update financial records accurately and efficiently.
* Communication: Liaise with clients and colleagues to resolve any accounting queries.
Skills & Experience Required
* Experience: Previous experience in an accounts assistant or similar role is desirable but not essential.
* Accounting Software: Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) is beneficial.
* Organisational Skills: Ability to work to deadlines and manage a varied workload effectively.
* Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
* Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a small, friendly team.
* Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
* AAT Level 2 or 3 (or working towards) is desirable but not essential.
* A good understanding of UK accounting principles and tax laws is advantageous.
