Are you a practicing or recently retired General Practitioner(GMC registered) with extensive clinical leadership and governance experiencegained at either Board or senior executive level?CSH Surrey, the first social enterprise and employee-owned community healthcareprovider in the U.K., is recruiting a GPNon-executive Director to join our Board and provide senior clinical oversight.

The Role

As a Non-Executive Director and Board member, you will bringindependent challenge, strategic insight, and clinical expertise to support CSHSurrey in delivering safe, sustainable, and high-performing services. You willplay a key role in assuring clinical quality and patient safety.

About You

You should have a proven track record of operating at astrategic level, with the ability to balance clinical excellence with thecommercial realities of a social enterprise.

Main duties of the job

TheBoard of Directors is legally responsible for the activities of CSH Surrey.

TheArticles of Association for CSH Surrey (available on request) outline thestructure of CSH Surrey, and the relationships with the CSH Guardian Trust, andthe Voice.

Non-executive directorsplay a crucial role in bringing an independent perspective to the Board room inaddition to any specific knowledge and skills they may have. Non-executive directors have a duty to upholdthe highest standards of integrity and probity and to foster good relations inthe board room. They should applysimilar standards of care and skill in their role as a non-executive director asthey would in similar roles elsewhere.

Non-executive directors are expected toparticipate fully as members of committees of the Board of Directors to whichthey are appointed and to take the role of Committee Chair when so appointed. There are currently six board committees thathold meetings throughout the year at varying frequencies. The Board also holds away days for strategyand other discussions, and non-executive directors may be asked to attend othermeetings internal and external to CSH Surrey.Non-executive directors will also be expected to visit CSH teams andspeak to colleagues, patients and their families: a DBS check will be required.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or experience.
* Current or prior GMC registration.


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

* Skills in strategic or operational management, experience of social enterprises, not-for-profit sector or the NHS, business planning, clinical and quality assurance, customer focus or wider business services experience (e.g. customer services, procurement, place based or demographic planning, estates planning, stakeholder engagement, change management).
* Ability to chair a committee, an understanding of the wider determinants of health including the needs of our local patient community, the roles and responsibilities of the Voice, statutory and regulatory requirements, risk management and board assurance processes.
* Specific expertise relating to the work of the CSH.


Experience

* Experience of operating at senior or board level within a complex public or private sector organisation with a background in collaborative working ideally with strong local connections, community health background and/or commercial experience, experience in social enterprise or employee-owned businesses would be an advantage.
