MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The purpose of this job description is to indicate the general level of responsibility of the post. The detailed duties may vary from time to time without changing the general character or level of responsibility.
(Under the guidance and supervision of a qualified Motor Vehicle Transport Technician)
* To assist in servicing, repair, and maintenance duties of service vehicles, appliances, and plant and equipment, as directed by the Transport Support Officer (TSO), Workshop Manager (WM), or Transport and Engineering Manager (TEM).
* To assist in vehicle servicing as laid down in the Service vehicle servicing schedules.
* To assist in servicing and repairs of service ladders, operational equipment, pumping equipment, and plant as laid down in the Service repair and servicing schedules.
* To assist in minor body and paintwork repairs to vehicles and appliances.
* To assist in keeping the working environment clean and tidy and comply with Health and Safety and Energy Conservation policies.
* To ensure that job cards, booking forms, and other records are completed as required, and that all spare parts used are properly recorded.
* To attend training and personal development courses as necessary for the role of Vehicle Technician Apprentice.
* To provide the TSO with the correct description and part number for all parts required for vehicles, plant, and equipment.
* To assist in the movement of ancillary vehicles to Fire Service or other premises as directed, only for vehicles for which an appropriate license is held.
* To undertake any other duties related to the post as directed by the TSO, Workshop Manager, or Transport and Engineering Manager.

Training to be Provided
Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release at Remit’s Automotive Academy in Derby. The program includes 16 weeks of 1-week blocks over 32 months. The employer covers hotel, food, and travel costs, with no cost to the trainee.
